Leigh, a leading member of the Ar community in South Australia, died at home on 16th October 2022, after a long illness, in the care of his wife Glenda.
Leigh was influential in many AR and related matters: he had patents in several devices, including RFID, and often appeared at patent infringement hearings.
Leigh was an "RFID technology development pioneer/visionary of 25 + years experience in the RF identification industry, well known by everyone of significance in the industry. Recognised RF and RFID expert of international repute in the conception, application, development, and successful commercialisation of disruptive wireless technologies."
With Professor Mike Underhill (G3LHZ), he worked inter ala, in the early development of Magnetic loop antennas. In 2008 Mike co-hosted a symposium on Magnetic loop antennas with Leigh.
Leigh was Principal Scientist/Adviser Principal Scientist/Adviser to UPM Raflatac/RFID Division Tampere, Finland, and friend of Pekka OH3GDO known well in the Finnish AR community.
Leigh will be long remembered as a modest and gracious member of AHARS, and for his great contributions to AR and Radio Science.
