Optical Link Equipment (High Power LEDS) by Justin Vincent Giles-Clark VK7TW, held at the Belair Community Centre.
Justin described the experiments he and Rex VK7MO, along with a number of other amateurs have been conducting using beams of light to transmit signals from hilltop to hilltop.

Sunday 13th September 2009 - Buy and Sell
The opening address was given by WIA President Michael Owen. Presentations were delivered by Charlie VK5KDK and Ben VK5BB on squid poles, followed by Michael VK5ZEA on his home brew D-STAR repeater.
There were 32 tables selling the usual mixture of old and new to bargain hungry amateurs.

12th September 2009 - Club convention.
A Club Convention was held in 2009 and organised by Paul Hoffmann VK5PH, with support from AREG, AHARS, the WIA, and others. This event was the first of its kind here for quite some time and was a great success. Matters discussed included WIA financial support for repeaters, exam fees, & interference issues. WIA President Michael Owen was present to discuss national issues with the group. Also present was WIA Executive Robert VK3DN.

Dr. Hank Prunckun VK5JAZ outlined how he set up a VHF network (with the assistance of his XYL Ann, Ben VK5BB, & Wolfe VK5AXN) in the area surrounding the Agnepena Station in the Gammon Ranges in SOuth Australia's northeast. Hank explained how the various repeaters were sey up for communicating with those walking the 'boot camp' trails, those located at the base camp at the homestead, and those trekking the ranges toward Leigh Creek.

Evolution of Legislation & Rules for AR since WW2 by Rob Gurr VK5RG. It may have sounded like a dry subject, but was far from it. Rob, the guru os such matters, took us through the post war years, and the difficulties faced by hams then, to the present.

Ten members of AHARS took part in the 2009 John Moyle Memorial Field Day at Womberoo near Swan Reach.

Thursday 19th February 2009 - AGM.
This was held at the Belair Community Centre. A total of 63 AHARS members attended. There was only one change to the committee. Richard VK5ZNC has taken over the position of Treasurer from Hans VK5YX.
The Presidents Award was presented to Barry VK5ZBQ.
Following the AGM, Steve VK5AIM gave a very interesting demonstration of a device he has made up to aid anyone needing to test their caravan plug and socket.
